Look up an address in three steps

  1. Enter a public IPv4 or IPv6 address, or a domain such as example.com. Use my IP leaves the target empty and asks the provider for the address it sees.
  2. Run the lookup. A domain is resolved first; the tool selects an A address, or an AAAA address if no A address is returned.
  3. Record the returned IP, source and time. Compare the address before interpreting its location, ISP or ASN.

Opening this page does not run a lookup. Queries contact ipwho.is, with ipapi.co used if the first provider fails.

What a result means

An illustrative result might show 203.0.113.42, an ASN and an estimated city. This reserved example address is documentation only, not a live result. The actual cards remain empty until you run a lookup.

The ASN describes a routing network; ISP and organization labels come from the provider. They do not identify a household, establish ownership by a person or provide a verified reputation score.

Why the city may differ from your location

IP location estimates a network exit. VPNs, carrier gateways and database updates can make it differ from your device. The map is approximate; missing or invalid coordinates are not plotted.

Optional device location requires browser permission and is shown separately with an accuracy radius. Its coordinates are excluded from reports. Read why an IP location can be wrong and how to compare exits while using a VPN.

A little more visibility. A lot more confidence.
